This course will explain the phenomenon of pain that persists after the expected amount of time it should last, otherwise known as chronic pain. This course will address the impact of chronic pain on the patient and the clinical team providers. Lastly, the course will discuss the dilemmas of long-term opioid use and the potential for tolerance, dependence, and abuse.
